“FestAfrica 2010” - 8th Annual African Festival in Baltimore-- Aug 14 & 15


Baltimore, MD—One of Africa’s most popular R&B and Hip Hop artist, 2Face Idibia will perform at FestAfrica 2010, the 8th annual African festival on Saturday August 14, 2010 at Patterson Park, in Baltimore at 5pm.

Winner of the first ever “Best African Act category at the MTV Europe Music Awards (2005) and the MTV Africa Best R&B Artist (2009) , 2Face is at the forefront of Africa’s music scene.

His hit song “African Queen,” is on the soundtrack to the movie, “Phat Girlz” starring Mo’Nique. His debut album, “Face 2 Face,” sold more than two million copies worldwide. 2Face has released two other successful albums, “Grace 2 Grace” and “The Unstoppable.”

His music, a mix of African beats, R&B, Hip Hop and Reggae rhythms, sung in English, local African dialects and Pidgin English, is spreading across African, European and American borders.

2Face has performed alongside artists including, Ludacris, Beenie Man and Akon; and collaborated musically with Wyclef Jean, R Kelly and Naz. He recently performed during the closing ceremonies of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa .

Along with the headline performance by 2Face Idibia, FestAfrica 2010 will also feature a parade of nations led by Afro-Brazilian band, Batala Washington, as well as various traditional African music and dance performances, fashion shows, arts & crafts, vendors, African cuisine, games, face painting, storytelling, a health fair and a career fair.

FestAfrica 2010 will be held at Patterson Park in Baltimore , at the corner of Eastern Ave. and Linwood Ave. on Saturday Aug. 14 and Sunday Aug. 15 from 12 Noon – 8p.m. This is the official African festival for Baltimore City cosponsored by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the Baltimore Office of Promotions and the Arts and Maryland State Arts Council. The theme for the festival is “Serving & Touring Africa,” promoting tourism and community service in Africa .

Admission fees on Saturday Aug. 14 are $5 between 12-4pm , $15 after 4pm , VIP passes are $50. Sunday Aug. 15 is $5 all day. Free for ages 10 and under on both days.
